Opened up for a full house

This home was built when rooms were segmented and restrictive. The family needed the floor plan to open up, and finishes that are easy to clean while showing off their modern style. Not one piece of the interior was left untouched.

The couple and their two girls are active in their church and often fill the home with guests of all ages. To make room, we moved the kitchen to the opposite side of a shared bathroom wall. The new space takes on many roles and reuses the existing plumbing.

Setting the island a little farther from the range than usual created a direct aisle from the entry through to the bedrooms and living room.
